Could This Be Happening? | TFC Flying High S1.7 | FM20

The Maltese journalist who travelled to France to interview ScoreMore during the pre-season, is back. On the eve of the 4th game of the Ligue 1 campaign, he is here to report on life at Toulouse F.C.

Gabriel B. Urpani for Believe To Win:

This is a historic day in the history of Maltese sports journalism as I, Gabriel B. Urpani, become the first Maltese sports journalist (any journalist?) based abroad.

The appointment of fellow countryman Matisse ScoreMore as Toulouse FC “coach” (as we call him back home), had Malta buzzing. For the first time, a Maltese national has a role to play in one of Europe´s top leagues.

Meanwhile, in France, the Ligue 1 outfit was expected to struggle even before ScoreMore´s arrival, but many had them for goners at the announcement. The first friendlies did nothing to dispel these fears among the Toulousains.

Back in July, local newspapers showed that ScoreMore´s honeymoon period was over before it even started.

ScoreMore is not one to roll over quickly though. He was ready to stop, take stock of things and make the necessary changes, including tactical. Signs of an early, unlikely, resurrection followed. Then, A 1-0 win in the friendly against Lazio saw my employers sending me on a trip to Toulouse for an interview with ScoreMore and a deeper look at what he was up to over here.

ScoreMore is not one to roll over without a fight though.

Starting the campaign with 2 wins (both 2-1) over Dijon and Strasbourg, proved that he knows what he is doing. Those wins had most of us in Malta on the edge of our seats. What convinced my employers to set me up in Toulouse was when last week they remained undefeated in a 1-1 draw at the Chaudron against Saint-Etienne. I am still working from a hotel at the moment, let´s not tell him that though.

Now what?

So, here we are today, to report what can be seen as ScoreMore´s first big game of his career. His TFC will host Lyon. Lyon have started badly, with 2 points from 3 games. These games, however, were against Rennes, PSG and Monaco. They are still definitely the better team. Will Lyon´s probable low morale help ScoreMore remain undefeated in four games? Or will this match bring both teams back to reality?

The defence and attack have remained unchanged in all 3 games so far. The midfield is a different story, though. Boisgard´s poor performance against Saint-Etienne raises questions. Will ScoreMore keep the same 11 for the first time? Or will we see more changes? Join us tomorrow for the match we are all waiting for.
